Departure in the morning from Verona by comfortable GT coach for Chignolo Po in the Province of Pavia, where we will visit the local castle, rebuilt in the 1700s on medieval pre-existences by the Cusani Visconti family, former vassals of the Sforza family, to control the Po from a small rise. It was called the "Versailles" of Lombardy because of the vast opulence of its rooms. Tour of the Baroque and medieval route with a specialized guide through the scenic Baroque courtyard, the large frescoed rooms of the Tiepolesque school, the refinement of the stuccoes and decorations, the Hall of Honor, the dominant tower with its massive turreted bulk, all set against a gentle rural backdrop.

After the visit is over, we leave immediately for the small town of Bobbio, nestled in the gentle valley of the Trebbia River in the Piacenza area. The town is known for the founding of the Benedictine monastery by the Irish monk Columbanus, and has a typical medieval appearance. After a free lunch, which can be taken in one of the village's small restaurants with traditional Emilian dishes, we will tour the center with a local guide, focusing on the pre-Romanesque Basilica of St. Columbanus , also descending into the crypt where the prelate rests; then the Romanesque cathedral (it is the bishop's seat) with its Renaissance facade; and above all we will see the famous Gobbo Bridge, with 11 unequal arches thrown over the river perhaps as early as the 7th century^, and which also preserves Roman and medieval elements. After a short restorative break we will take the road home again with the GT Coach that has been waiting patiently for us. Return to Verona in the evening and end of services.
